LAUNCH OF THE MINORITIES PROGRAMME

LAUNCH OF THE MINORITIES PROGRAMME

Today, the Head of the National Coordination Unit, Gergely Vartus Vartus and the Swiss Ambassador Jean-Francois Paroz signed the Support Measure Agreement for the Minorities Programme.

The programme has a budget of nearly HUF 4.1 billion, including national co-financing.

Speaking at the official signing ceremony, Gergely Vartus said that the programme will contribute to the social inclusion of socially disadvantaged people and communities, in particular Roma, in disadvantaged areas.

Ambassador Jean-Francois Paroz stressed that the inclusion of disadvantaged groups is necessary to reduce social inequality. Navigating in the digital world is essential to protect members of this group from isolation.

In her speech, Deputy State Secretary for EU Development Coordination Judit Tóth stressed that the social inclusion of disadvantaged people is a common social interest, and therefore Hungary is making continuous efforts to achieve this goal. This programme is one of the tools of this effort, as a result of which disadvantaged people, including Roma, will be able to make better use of the opportunities offered by the digital world, especially in the fields of public administration, employment, education and health services, thus strengthening their social inclusion and improving their quality of life.
