Water and Wastewater Management
Programme Operator: National Development Centre
Programme objective:
The programme shall contribute to the modernization of the drinking water and wastewater network according to European Union standards while further improving the quality of drinking water.
Swiss support: CHF 16 million (HUF 6,6 billion)
National co-financing: CHF 2.8 million (HUF 1,1 billion)
MAIN PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES
OBJECTIVE I (4 programme components):
Programme Component Operators: Beneficiaries selected through a call for proposals
Programme Partner: Ministry of Energy
The objective aims to contribute to the improvement of drinking water quality by removing specific hazardous substances (iron, manganese), by replacing network system parts, or by drilling new wells. Further, it will promote a more efficient and sustainable use of the water base, e.g. by preventing leakages.

Programme Partner: Ministry of Interior
The objective aims to contribute to the improvement of the country's wastewater treatment effectiveness and the removal of micropollutants. The elaboration of the White Book aims to summarize the main characteristics of micropollutant removal and to offer a vision for decision makers, based on the analytical measurements and technologies introduced at selected wastewater treatment plants.
AWARNESS RAISING REGARDING ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION
Civic engagement will be integrated into the programme with a comprehensive approach, focusing on and connecting the respective sites. The aim of the civic engagement activities is to strengthen participative structures and processes in order to reduce economic and social disparities.
